Making your own crispy fish fillet with tartar sauce at home doesn’t have to be hard. All you need are a few simple ingredients, a frying pan and some step-by-step instructions.

Ingredients

  • 1 kilo 1 kilo Cream Dory Fish Fillet (cut into cubes, preferred size)

  • 2 tbsp 29.57 ml Calamansi Juice

  • Ground Mixed Peppercorn

  • Sea Salt

  • 1 cup 128 g Corn Starch

  • 1 1 Egg (beaten)

  • Oil of Frying

  • Tartar Sauce
  • 300 grams 300 grams Japanese Mayonnaise

  • 30 grams 30 grams Capers in Vinegar (drained and minced)

  • 1 medium 1 medium Red Onion (peeled and minced)

  • 3 cloves 3 cloves Garlic (peeled and minced)

  • 2 tbsp 7.6 g Fresh Parsley (minced)

  • 1 tbsp 14.79 ml Calamansi Juice

  • 1 tbsp 12 g Brown Sugar

  • Ground Mixed Peppercorn

  • Sea Salt

Directions

  • Mix all of the Tartar sauce ingredients together in a medium bowl. If you want it to be smooth, mix it well or use a food processor.
  • Cut the fish fillet into cubes or any other shape you like. Use a paper towel to dry. Put into a clean bowl.
    Squeeze some calamansi juice and add salt and pepper. Mix it gently until it soaks up the juices.
  • Whisk the egg and set it aside.
  • Put the cornstarch in another shallow dish.
  • Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Fish fillets can be dipped into the egg mixture. Dredge the fillets in the cornstarch and make sure the fish is completely covered.
  • Dip again in egg and cornstarch to make it even crispier.
  • Fry each batch of fish in hot oil for about 4 minutes, turning once, until the fish is golden brown.
  • Drain with paper towels. Serve hot.
